Saint Martin of Tours was founded in 1897, at the
request of Bishop Charles McDonnell, the second bishop of the Diocese of
Brooklyn. At that time, the Parish served the 25 to 30 known
Catholic families of the Seaford, Massapequa, Amityville and
Copiague areas. During the summertime, this number increased
by another 10 to 20 families.
Today, the Parish serves approximately 2,500 enrolled
families, with its physical boundaries having been reduced significantly
to include portions of Massapequa and Amityville.

The Parish has a thriving elementary school, with
approximately 600 students enrolled from nursery school through eighth grade.
Saint Martin of Tours Parish is an active Catholic Christian
community, with a rich history, and a promising future. There are many ministries
available for those in need and for those who can serve.
